Honest answers to commonly asked questions about Beautycounter

Why did you get started with Beautycounter?

As a health and nutrition coach, it came naturally to recommend safe and non-toxic products to my clients (and use for my family as well). So, when I learned about Beautycounter’s quality, safety standards, and how EASY it was to incorporate it into my life, it was a no brainer.

What’s different about Beautycounter?

This company is not just about selling lipstick (I did that before too!) Beautycounter not only sells an incredible line of high-performing products that work, but that have incredible safety standards. I wanted to support a company that was doing bigger things, like educating consumers about their rights to knowing what is in their products and fighting for political changes in the industry. Beautycounter goes above and beyond, and I want to be a part of where they’re going. They are also a B Corp. and give back to their non-profit partners. I love that!

I’m new to the “safer, non-toxic” product industry, why does it matter?

There are more than 80,000 chemicals on the market today. Many don't have any safety data. This is particularly true of those used in the skincare and beauty industry. The European Union has banned 1,300 of these chemicals and the U.S. has only banned 30. Beautycounter has banned 1,500. These chemicals can be hormone disrupters, they are passed on genetically to our kids, and they can lead to a host of chronic health issues. We’re all exposed to so many potentially harmful ingredients every day, this is one thing that we can control. Beautycounter is a great place to start.

What’s so great about being a consultant?

Becoming a Beautycounter Consultant is more than a side hustle, it’s a chance to build a flexible and financially rewarding business (really) while making a social impact for the future. Also, there’s a lot of options as to how you want to work your business and whether or not you choose to grow a team. It’s the more down to earth company I’ve ever worked with, and I didn’t have to compromise my authenticity or ever have to feel like I was “pushing.” The structure of the business and commission plan was way better than any other company I had worked with before (and I had tried a lot!)

There are so many products I’m interested in, I don’t know where to start.

Switching to safer, cleaner makeup and skincare can be a lot all at once. I always say to start with a good skincare set first (you can contact me if you aren’t sure which is best for you.) A cleanser, moisturizer, serum, and eye cream is essential. Then start replacing any makeup items that are over a year old (mascara should be replacement every 3-6 months max) or anything that you are running low on. I LOVE our lip gloss/lip sheers, our hydrating foundation, concealer, and brow gel. Also, don’t forget your kids’ products and sunscreen! MUST HAVES!
